Can Israel and Palestine ever be at peace, United Nation votes yes?

Today the United Nations voted overwhelmingly to recognise a Palestinian State,  with the recent conflict of continuous loss of lives, destruction and disruption of Infrastructure on both sides, with one loosing more than the other,  the resolution upgraded the Palestinians’ status to a non member observer state at the United Nations was approved by a more than two-thirds majority of the 193-member world body – a vote of 138-9(which includes mainly United States), with 41 abstentions( including United Kingdom).

During my visit to the mid day service at the Church of England’s St Paul’s Cathedral, famous for the royal weddings the most recent one being Prince William and Kate. I was overwhelmingly  saddened in my spirit when the vicar said, ‘Let us remember the country Israel who once again is at conflict, may the Lord will watch over them’. Time and time again  I have visited different Christian churches, from CofE to Pentecostal s  Methodist, Baptist to Christian Intercessors etc.  Never in my Christian walk have I heard anyone raise Palestine in prayers.  Why didn’t he mention Palestine in his prayer at all? Surely to every conflict there must be two sides.   How can there ever be peace if Christians only pray for Israel? where is the logic? where is Jesus Christ in this situation?

Matthew 5:44 says But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.

Perhaps it is the ineffectiveness of the Christian Body as a whole to stand in the gap, as His words say, Whom shall I send and who will go for me, and I said Here I am Lord send me. Surely we must know that the earth belongs to the Lord, the world and all people that live in it, why then do Christians choose to be biased and one sided in their choice of whom to pray for, If Jesus were living in this world today, will He be one sided in his prayers to God?. When he said to his persecutors, ‘Father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing’.  A declaration of absolute agape love to see beyond the physical to feel the heart of God.

Hence the second greatest commandment of all ‘Love your neighbour as yourself’. Perhaps the lack of peace in Israel and Palestine is due to the selfish, one sided love we have, to love only those that love us, thinking on an earthly level, when the bible says we have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus, dead and resurrected with Jesus and so have a heavenly perspective of things, moving and breathing in the Spirit and walking not by sight.

Perhaps it is the ‘Praying and asking amiss’ of Christians that is resulting to the lack of peace. Why not see it through the eyes of Jesus Christ and lift both countries up in prayer, asking for God to Intervene, to take control and raise a Godly counsel in both nations, that will address what needs to address, give them a heart to come together with a passion to seek peace, stability, that they can live side by side in Love and not hate. That God who shines light in darkness will shine His light into hearts to see God’s light, to open their eyes and the God of wisdom will raise up wise counsel in Israel, Palestine, United states and United nations so they can come to a peaceful agreement.

Maybe then, the Lord will hear our cry, like he said to Abraham, if I find ten righteous people in the land I will not destroy

their land(Sodom and Gomorrah).  Where are the righteous people?
